Considered Materials

With over a million tonnes of textiles dumped in UK landfill each year, we prioritise the design of durable and premium travel goods that are constructed to last. British designer Vivienne Westwood famously said “Buy less, choose well, make it last” and she was totally right. We want our travel goods to be well used (and hopefully well loved) for years to come.

Inspired by Nature

Our newly launched Eco-Conscious Laptop Sleeve is a first of its kind, inspired by Mother Nature. When coconuts fall from a palm tree they survive the 50 foot drop thanks to the shock absorbing fibres on their outer shell. We sourced those very same coconuts fibres combined with natural rubber to provide the eco-friendly and plastic-free padding (Enviro-Fiber Foam®). The husk of the coconut is nothing more than a waste product to farmers, who burn these husks producing unnecessary air pollution and CO2 in the atmosphere. By repurposing this byproduct, one man’s trash really is OneNine5’s treasure.

Durability Meets Style

The outer of our travel goods are constructed from a PU (polyurethane) leather. We do not use textiles derived from animals, meaning our travel goods are vegan friendly. This recyclable material is water resistant to maximise durability. You have four unisex colours to choose from between our Eco-Conscious Wash Bags, Eco Essentials Pouches and coconut padded Eco-Conscious Laptop Sleeves, we will only introduce a new colour if we intend to reuse across the range for years to come. Fast fashion and limited edition colours promote over consumption and it is a problem we want to avoid.

Recycle & Reuse

8 million tonnes of plastic waste flows into our oceans every year. To help reduce this crazy figure, the lining of our travel goods are made from 100% recycled plastic, certified by Global Recycled Standard (GRS). Often referred to as ‘rPET’, this is a great way to reuse plastic from some of the worst contributors like single-use drinks bottles. rPET creates 71% fewer greenhouse emissions than virgin polyester, uses 79% less energy, and has under a quarter of the carbon footprint of virgin PET.

Minimising Waste

To minimise any waste during the manufacturing of our travel goods, we repurpose off-cuts of textiles and materials. After a large piece of fabric has been cut, we reuse the smaller piece of waste material to create the zipper pullers on the outside of our wash bags or the inner badge, stitched inside our travel goods. Our coconut fibre padding is pre-cut to the required size of our Eco-Conscious Laptop Sleeve, ensuring that we have almost zero waste from this material.
